CLASS FULL Kelly Anorak, Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 3, 6-9 pm
Skill Level: Intermediate, ages 18 and up
Style meets function with the Kelly Anorak; a classic shape with a modern cut, this simple coat is the perfect choice for transitional weather. Lightweight and unlined, it features a two piece cuffed sleeve, optional drawstring waist, gusseted flap pocket and a zipper placket with snap buttons. You’ll choose either a hood or stand-up collar. You’ll learn how to fit a pattern to your body, how to properly set in sleeves, how to create flat-felled seams for a beautiful, professional finish, and how to install zippers and hardware, including grommets and four-piece snaps. This is an intermediate-level class, which means that it will move at a faster pace and homework will be assigned between each class session.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS: Please come to your first class with your pattern pieces traced. If you need help figuring out what size or sizes to trace, or how to grade between sizes, email firstname.lastname@example.org about connecting prior to class to get your questions answered. We will check your measurements in class and adjust your traced pieces if needed. Please bring your original pattern and tracing paper to the first session in case we need to make adjustments to your traced pieces. Once we have looked over your traced pieces we will cut fabric together during class. All supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class.

What is an “Intermediate” level class at Modern Domestic?
You’re no longer intimidated by the idea of reading a pattern and comfortable reading a pattern and have made a number of projects. You would like to learn different methods of zipper installation or how to alter your patterns. You’re venturing into more complicated patterns (e.g., lined garments, plackets, collars, zippered fly). Classes are faster paced and generally require homework.
