Sorbetto Tank or Tunic, Wednesdays, June 14 and 21, 6 - 9 pm
Skill Level: Beginner, ages 18 and up.
This classic top is quick to make, with no closures to sew and a relaxed fit inspired by the easy elegance of the early 60s. You’ll choose from Version 1, which features bust darts, a bias bound neckline and armholes, and an optional a center front box pleat, or Version 2, a tunic length version with a side seam vent and slight high-low hem, which is finished with a facing. You’ll learn how to alter a pattern to fit your body, how to sew french seams and bust darts, and how to attach bias binding. Both the BERNINA Sergers and Sewing Machines will be used in this class.

PATTERN PRINTING and CLASS PREWORK. PLEASE READ:
Your download will contain a zip file with several versions of the pattern, including a one-page wide file for a large-format printer and a multi-page tiled file for home printing. You will print Version 1 or Version 2 in your size range depending on which version you would like to make. We recommend having the one-page wide file printed at a print shop (FedEx Kinkos, etc) on a large-format printer. If you choose to print the multi-page tiled version at home, make sure to print at 100% and check the test square on the first page of the tiled version to ensure the pattern prints at the intended size. It is not possible to print the pattern at Modern Domestic, so it is imperative that you complete this step prior to coming to class. Just bring your printed pattern -- we will trace and cut fabric together in class. Note that class time does not allow for you taping your tiled pattern together in class. Please complete this step prior to arrival. If you have any questions about this process please email the instructor at email@example.com prior to class.
All supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic.
Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. If you plan to shop for supplies the day of your class we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early.
What’s a Beginner-level class at Modern Domestic?
You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
