This single-session class is a great way to enter the world of knits. Leggings are the perfect clothing staple for this time of year, and they're so easy you'll want to make them in every color. You'll learn great tips for professional finishes: from creating seams on a serger, to hemming with a coverstitch machine, to serging in the elastic for the waistband. You'll also learn how to make pattern adjustments to fit your measurements.
Supply List:
• Pattern Required: Jalie Pattern #2920
• 1 1/4–1 1/2 yd of 4-way stretch jersey knit, can be any manner of blend but be sure it has some spandex in it. NOTE, THIS IS MORE YARDAGE THAN SPECIFIED ON THE PATTERN — HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DUE TO POTENTIAL FABRIC SHRINKAGE. Yardage depending on height or length desired. If you are of taller-than-average height please purchase additional yardage to make sure you have enough to accommodate your leg length. This pattern requires 70% cross-grain stretch. If you are unsure whether your fabric is stretchy enough, please bring it to the shop prior to class so we can take a look at it for you. Please prewash your fabric prior to your class.
• 1 yard of 3/4" elastic *If your waist is larger than 36", please purchase enough to accommodate your measurements.
• Two coordinating cones of Maxi Lock serger thread
• Swedish Tracing Paper
Note: You will be using Modern Domestic's classroom sergers and coverstitch machines for this class. If you choose to bring your own machine, please make sure you are familiar with how to use it.

What is a “Beginner” class at Modern Domestic?
You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
