Advanced Beginner Garment Class: Dani Pant, Alberta St. Store, Wednesdays September 6th, 13th, & 20th, 6pm-8:30pm
Instructor: Rachel Halse
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner*, ages 15 and up
Class Sessions: 3 Sessions, 2.5 hr each session
The Dani pants are the perfect pants to ring in Fall! The pants have an elastic waistband, inseam and rear pockets, a small paperbag waist, and a cuff. They can also be sewn with a flat front and a fully functioning front fly for a more tailored look. These pants are a great introduction to pants making, and you definitely won’t stop at just one pair. The pattern can also be made up as shorts for those last few days of summer.
All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. Supply List:
- Dani Pant Pattern by True Bias
- Fabric (Rachel recommends: light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, linen rayon blends, cottons, and twills)
- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (coordinating or color matching recommended)
- 1-2 Yards 2” elastic
- Optional: 5-7” coil zipper (depending on size)
- Optional: 3/8 Yard Interfacing
*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
*Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
