Learn to quilt with us during the Then Came June Quilt-along! This is a great opportunity to join the quilting community both at Modern Domestic and online!

In this class we will dive into basic cutting techniques, piecing, and how to create accurate and consistent 1/4" seam allowances. We will complete the top of your quilt with class time and weekly homework. The studio space is available to work on homework during the duration of your class. Please call to confirm classroom availability. We will discuss who to baste and finish your quilt but these steps will not be completed in class.

About the Quilt: The Granny Cabin Quilt Pattern is inspired by the simple patchwork of log cabin and granny square blocks. Instead of small piecing, this pattern utilizes strip piecing to speed up the process! The pattern is beginner friendly and instructions are given throughout to use up those scraps. It is the perfect picnic quilt!

What is a Beginner-level class at Modern Domestic?
You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
