The Sauvie Sundress is the perfect dress to layer over a t-shirt during the Spring and to wear bare during the hot Portland Summer! The Sauvie Sundress can be anything from a swim cover-up to a casual summer dress to an elegant evening gown depending on your fabric choice.

In this class, you will learn basic pattern fitting, seam finishing techniques, hidden pocket assembly, and more! With the attached lining your garment will look professional and be ready to wear for the upcoming Spring and Summer months. This class is formatted in two four hours sessions, you are welcome to bring snacks (a flexible 15 min break is included in each session to avoid hungry sewing).

Teacher Note: Version #1 and #2 is just right for a beginner sewist, while Version #3 and #4 is perfect if you want to level up your skillset with an added elastic waistband.

All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Supply List:

- Sew House Seven Sauvie Sundress Pattern, available in Size 00-20 or Curvy Fit Size 16-34

- Fabric required for size and length desired (suggested linen, linen blends, cotton lawn, silk noil, crepe de chine)

- Swedish Tracing Paper

- Lightweight Fusible Interfacing

- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (coordinating or color matching with exterior fabric is recommended)

- Optional: 1 ½” Wide Elastic

*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.

*Skill Level: Beginner - You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
