This Lab is for you if you’re wanting to level up your pant skills. Come at any point in your process! Maybe you have already started and need support with fit? Maybe you want guidance on how to start and/or learn tips and tricks to make your garment look professional. You'll have the opportunity to sew on buttons, use interfacing, and learn all about pockets! As with all our Labs, you have the ability to sew at your own pace with the instructor’s help to keep you on track and sewing along.

Your supplies may be available for purchase at Modern Domestic! You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes early. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Supply List:

- The pants pattern of your choice with suggested fabric and notions.

*Skill Levels:

Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.

Intermediate - You’re no longer intimidated by the idea of reading a pattern and comfortable reading a pattern and have made a number of projects. You would like to learn different methods of zipper installation or how to alter your patterns. You’re venturing into more complicated patterns (e.g., lined garments, plackets, collars, zippered fly). Classes are faster paced and generally require homework.

Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting and prefer to have an instructor's guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, the expert help to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.
