This unlined parka is designed with an A-line shape for a relaxed fit. The hood is high at front which gives good protection for cold days. There are hidden front pockets with large flaps and a generous hood to keep out the elements.

Supply List:
Pattern Required: Hoodie Parka by Assembly Line patterns
Fabric required in size desired. Recommend heavy weight fabrics such as canvas, twill, or denim. Note: this jacket is unlined. If you are using a lighter weight fabric you may consider purchasing a second fabric in the same yardage amount as the main fabric for an underlined version (as seen in the in-store sample). We will not be altering the pattern to make a lined version in class.
8 anorak snaps
Anorak snap set tool
3/4 yard fusible interfacing (recommend Shape-Flex)
All purpose polyester thread (recommend Mettler Metrosene)

All supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS: Please come to your first class with your pattern pieces traced. If you need help figuring out what size or sizes to trace, or how to grade between sizes, email [insert teacher email address] about connecting prior to class to get your questions answered. We will check your measurements in class and adjust your traced pieces if needed. Please bring your original pattern and tracing paper to the first session in case we need to make adjustments to your traced pieces. Do not cut your fabric prior to class. Once we have looked over your traced pieces we will cut fabric together during class.

Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. If you plan to shop for supplies the day of your class we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes early.

What is an “Advanced Beginner” class at Modern Domestic?
You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
