Advanced Beginner: Quilted Tree Skirt, Sundays, November 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd, 4pm-6:30pm

Class Length: 4 Sessions, 2.5 hrs each session

This beautiful tree skirt is destined to be the next addition to your traditional holiday decor! The quilted trees will hug your actual Christmas tree, and hide the tree stand underneath. There is no pattern to pre-purchase, you will receive it on the first day of class.

Class 1:
- Review materials and organize
- Cut fabric and begin piecing

Class 2:
- Continue piecing
- Combine blocks

Class 3:
- Continue piecing
- Combine blocks

Class 4:
- Quilting techniques and binding tips

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before your class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm & Sunday, 11am-4pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed. 

To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. If purchasing materials online, purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code. 

Supply List:

- Fabric - Amount may vary slightly based on desired customization of design.

- Blocks: 6 to 10 fat quarters (depending on desire for repeat fabrics in the same block. Optional: adding scraps to each tree block for an additional decorative element as pictured)

- Background: 1 yard, (will require more if desire for larger skirt and thicker space between trees)

- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread, white, off white or color matching is recommended

- Backing: 1 ¾ yard - This may be purchased after the first session. 

- Batting: Quilter’s Dream Cotton Batting - crib size

- Binding: ½ yard (This is the total binding amount. Inside binding can come from scraps from the background if desired.)

Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, etc.) and want to have an option to use a serger for finishing techniques. Classes generally require homework.

Class Cancellation Policy: A cancellation more than 72 hours before a class start date receives a full refund or credit. A cancellation within 72 hours is non-refundable. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. We hold this class cancellation policy to ensure our teachers are compensated for their time, and other students waiting for spots in full classes are not missing class opportunities due to late cancellations.  Thank you for your understanding.
