Get into bag making this Fall! In this class, you'll learn how to thread and sew on our Bernina machines, install a zipper and hardware, add a lining, and master finishing sewing techniques. 

You’ll select your project from the book Everyday Essentials Booklet by Noodlehead. It's packed with full-color photographs, step-by-step instructions and a pattern pullout sheet for all non-rectangular pattern pieces.

Everyday Essentials is a pattern collection booklet featuring three modern bags and accessories to sew and use:

- The Wool + Wax Tote

- The Petal Pouch (in two sizes) 

- The Minimalist Wallet (in two sizes)

This is a great introductory class that teaches you all the basics needed to complete a tote bag with a lining or accessory project. 

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm & Sunday, 11am-4pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed. 

To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. If purchasing materials online, please purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.

Skill Level: ALL LEVELS (Beginner & up)- You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.

Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting with instructor guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, support to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.

Class Cancellation Policy: A cancellation more than 72 hours before a class start date receives a full refund or credit. A cancellation within 72 hours is non-refundable. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. We hold this class cancellation policy to ensure our teachers are compensated for their time, and other students waiting for spots in full classes are not missing class opportunities due to late cancellations.  Thank you for your understanding.
