Simple, yet stunning. This class will feature the use of a standard checker pattern. This is a piecing method that is used in countless patterns and designs. In this class, however, Courtney (the instructor) will use a technique that will ensure perfect points every time!
Each student will have the option to transform selected fabrics into their chosen unique design or random arrangement. Courtney will talk about color arrangement to produce a pattern and go through various considerations (i.e. visual interest, color, tone, and weights).
By the end of this class, each student should be able to finish a completed quilt top, or a small completed item (ex. Crib size quilt, or throw pillow). Depending on student experience and speed, some minor homework may be necessary.
This is a fantastic class to use as a stash buster, or mix a new favorite bundle.

Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
Supply List:
- Fabric quantities are going to vary based on what you want to create (blanket, bag, pillow, etc), what size checkers you plan to assemble, and how many color variations you would like to include in the design. Your best bet is to come with your stash AND/or find a handful of fat quarters that make your heart go pitter patter. For this pattern in particular, a variation of light and dark fabrics that contrast one another will work best.
- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread, white, off white or color matching is recommended
- Batting - find the quantity that suits your need the best, this can be purchased after the first weekend.
*Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
