The Fran Pants are a great introduction to garment making! They have a simple and easy silhouette; perfect for both hot summer days and colder winter evenings at home. They look chic made up in linen or textured cotton and are so cozy in flannel for PJs.

This two day class will show you how to pick your pattern size, cut your fabric, and construct a simple pair of pants. The class will cover beginner garment construction on a sewing machine, ironing know-how, basic serger operation (with threading help if desired), and hardware installation if choosing the optional grommets and tie.

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. To purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Supply List:

- Fran Pajamas Pattern by Closet Core

- Fabric (recommended: Brussels Washer, Essex, Lightweight Denim, Lightweight Twill, Flannel)

-  One spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread

- Swedish Tracing Paper

- Optional: Grommets and Cording

*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.

*Skill Level:  Beginner - You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
