In this class, you will learn how to take great measurements, draft a pattern, cut, and construct your own robe. This is an easy class that teaches you all the basics needed to complete a beginner sewing project. Students will also gain knowledge on patternmaking and will walk away with a new and fun finished garment made for their own body!
Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed.
To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. If purchasing materials online, purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.
Supply List:
- 2 1/2- 3yds light to mid-weight woven fabric
- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (fabric matching is recommended)
*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
*Skill Level: Beginner - You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
