CLASS FULL! Garment Lab: Pants, Pants, Shorts! Tuesdays, May 28th, June 4th, 11th, & 18th, 6pm-8:30pm

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner & Intermediate*, ages 15 and up

Class Length: 4 Sessions, 2.5 hours each session 

This Lab is for you if you’re wanting to level up your pant skills just in time for Summer! Hence the possibility of shorts : ) Come at any point in your process. Maybe you have already started and need support with fit? Maybe you want guidance on how to start and/or learn tips and tricks to make your garment look professional. 

You'll have the opportunity to sew on buttons, use interfacing, finish your seams with BERNINA sergers, and learn all about pockets! As with all our Labs, you have the ability to sew at your own pace with the instructor’s help to keep you on track and sewing along.

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. To purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Supply List:

- Recommended Patterns: Cashmerette Calder Pants, Merchant & Mills Elling Pants Pattern (Menswear), True Bias Dani Pants Pattern, and many more HERE!! 

- Project fabric (pre-wash ahead of class if you anticipate cutting in the first class)

- Project notions: zippers, elastic, buttons (bring notions required for your project)

- Swedish Tracing Paper (optional: for pattern alterations)

- One spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread

*Always pre-wash your fabric ahead of class if you plan to cut during class. 

*Skill Levels: Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.

Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting and prefer to have an instructor's guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, the expert help to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.
