Learn to Sew: Invisible Zipper Pillow, Monday & Tuesday, December 9th & 10th, 5:30pm-8pm

This class is ideal for brand new and beginner sewists interested in learning to sew home decor projects. In this two session class, you’ll learn machine basics, such as winding a bobbin, threading the machine, using basic construction stitches, learn how to sew piping, invisible zippers, AND walk away with a handmade place to rest your head when you're taking a break from sewing.

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. To purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
Supply List:
- Fabric - There are two options for fabric. You can choose a fun print for your pillow in quilting cotton or a non-stretch light or midweight canvas. In class, you’ll learn how to apply interfacing.

- Pillow Front:
- 1 Fat Quarter or ½ yard Quilting Cotton
- ½ yard Fusible Fleece Interfacing
- Pillow Back:
- 1 Fat Quarter or ½ yard Canvas (light to mid-weight)
- ⅛ yard Woven Interfacing
- Piping:
- ¼ yard Quilting Cotton or Canvas (light to mid-weight)
- If choosing only one color fabric ¾ yard Canvas (light to mid-weight) works great! Be sure to still purchase the interfacing.
- Pillow Front:
- 3 yards Braided Piping or 1 package Reinforced Cotton Clothesline 100ft
- 18” invisible zipper
- One spool Mettler Metrosene Thread (color match to your piping fabric)
- Wonder Clips (10 pack)
- 18” Pillow Form (Not needed for class, b/c you can put your pillow in at home!)
*Skill Level: Learn to Sew - You have never touched a sewing machine before or it has been years since you have. You know very little to nothing about sewing but you are eager to get started.
