Improv quilting can mean so many different things, but at its heart, it means making something uniquely YOU. In this class, we'll be reviewing improv sewing inspiration, our instructor will teach a handful of piecing techniques that will help to create some direction, but this is your chance to bust out that stash or use that fat quarter bundle you've had your eye on, and go to town creating something completely unique.

Class 1: Saturday June 8th

  • - Reviewing different techniques, finding inspiration
  • - Organizing your stash
  • - HSTs and all the ways to use it, hint: there's WAY more than you think!

Class 2: Sunday June 9th

  • - squares, checkers, and square in square
  • - chain piecing
  • - finding your blocks
  • - getting perfect points
  • - arranging and composition

Class 3: Saturday June 15th

  • - final tweeks
  • - quilt sandwich
  • - using a walking foot

Supply List:

- Fabric quantities are going to vary based on what you want to create (blanket, bag, pillow, etc), but your best bet is to come with your stash AND/or find a handful of fat quarters that make your heart go pitter patter.

- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread, white, off white or color matching is recommended

- Batting - find the quantity that suits your need the best, this can be purchased after the first weekend.

*Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
