Make a cozy winter robe or pajama set just in time for the holiday season! Learn to add cuffs and piping, install a collar, and how to make buttonholes to finish the perfect garment to snuggle in by the fire.
This class is designed for mixed level sewists, from beginner to intermediate. Let your sewing level guide your pattern choice. Homework may be required to complete your garment within the class sessions. As with all our Labs, you have the ability to sew at your own pace with the instructor’s help to keep you on track and sewing along.
Each session will begin with a presentation, and then move to hands-on learning with a pattern of your choice!
Session 1 - Cutting & Fabric Prep/Care
Session 2 - Sewing & Garment Construction
Session 3 - Finishing

All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.
Supply List:
- Suggested Patterns: Beginner: 100 Acts of Sewing Pants No1, Advanced Beginner: Tessuti Robe Pattern, Megan Nielsen Reef Camisole and Short Set, Intermediate: Closet Core Fran Pajamas, Merchant and Mills Sunday Robe
- Fabric: based on garment pattern requirements.
- Swedish Tracing Paper (recommended for pattern tracing)
- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (fabric matching is recommended)
*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
*Skill Levels: Beginners and Up - You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting and prefer to have an instructor's guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, the expert help to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.
