Advanced Beginner: Remy Raglan, Tuesdays, April 8th, 15th & 22nd, 5:30pm-8pm
Instructor: Colleen Connolly
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner*, ages 15 and up
Class Length: 3 sessions, 2.5 hours each session
Take your skill set to another level with this advanced beginner class! You’ll learn how to finish your seams with a french seam and/or serger, attach a bias neck facing, and learn two different gathering stitch techniques!
The Remy Raglan by Sew House Seven is a simple, timeless top. It features a relaxed fit at the bust and waist with three sleeve choices and an optional keyhole button closure.
Please note: This class is designed for an Advanced Beginner due to the pacing and the gathered sleeve view, but beginners are welcome if you are open to working outside of class time and/or choosing a more simple view, if needed. This class may require homework. You have complimentary access to use the sewing studio during open studio hours.
Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed.
To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. If purchasing materials online, purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.
Supply List:
- Pattern Required: Remy Raglan by Sew House Seven
- Fabric required for size desired (recommend light to medium weight woven fabric, ie. linen, linen/rayon, cotton voile, cotton gauze)*
- 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (coordinating or color matching with exterior fabric is recommended)
- One Button (approx. 20mm)
*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
*Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
