Prioritize self-care by sewing a microwavable neck wrap to soothe sore muscles all winter long. Customize the length to suit your body and choose your own filling for your ideal sensory experience.
With your new sewing knowledge, come on back to the classroom with a one time complimentary visit to Open Sew to use your scrap materials to make a weighted eye pillow, hand warmer, or reusable ice pack.
Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed.
To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. If purchasing materials online, purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.
Supply List:
- 1/2 yd of cotton or cotton-linen mid-weight canvas or Essex. Avoid synthetic fabrics and metallic prints (not microwave-safe).
- 1 yd of 1" wide cotton webbing
- 1 spool of coordinating Mettler Cotton Silk Finish Thread (You will have visible stitches.)
- Optional: small amount of dried lavender, eucalyptus leaves, or similar for aromatherapy.
- Filling will be provided for class, however you are welcome to bring your own if you’d prefer not to use lentils. The samples used 2.5 lbs of lentils for the neck wrap and 0.8 lbs for the eye pillow.
*Skill Level: Learn to Sew - You have never touched a sewing machine before or it has been years since you have. You know very little to nothing about sewing but you are eager to get started.
