Learn to sew a cute and practical semi-circle zip pouch. You can never have too many! This class is perfect for first-time sewists and beginners who want to gain confidence with zippers. You’ll learn machine basics, such as winding a bobbin, threading the machine, and using basic construction stitches. You will also learn how to insert a zipper, add a lining, and topstitch neatly.
Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed.
To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. If purchasing materials online, purchase supplies at least two days in advance to allow for prepping. All class supplies purchased at Modern Domestic get a 10% discount - please inquire for the code.
Supply List:
- 1/4 yd Main Fabric: lightweight to midweight Cotton or Cotton-linen Canvas for exterior fabric. If your fabric has a directional design, please purchase 1/2 yd instead.
- 1/4 yd Lining Fabric: lightweight to midweight Cotton or Cotton-linen Canvas
- 8” Closed-end Zipper (size #4.5 or #5 metal or nylon coil zipper recommended)
- One spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread that matches your exterior fabric (you will have visible topstitching).
- Optional: an additional spool of thread that matches your lining fabric.
*Skill Level: Learn to Sew - You have never touched a sewing machine before or it has been years since you have. You know very little to nothing about sewing but you are eager to get started.
