Jeans are a mainstay in any wardrobe but between fit and style it is nearly impossible to find the perfect jeans. From the Ginger Jeans classic skinny fit the Calvin Klein style Dawn Jeans, there now exist so many patterns to allow you to make the jeans of your dreams.

This lab is perfect for anyone beginning their jeans journey and wanting some hands on guidance for the process. The intermediate lab will focus on jean construction, denim handling and sewing techniques, useful tools, and basic jeans fitting. Labs are self guided so each student can focus on what they want to cover in the sessions. So come join us and make a pair of jeans!

Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. To purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. To purchase supplies in store, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Supply List:

- Jeans Pattern of your choice. (Recommended: Morgan Jeans, Dawn Jeans, Fulford Jeans, Lander Pants, Ginger Jeans, or Jude Jeans)

- Fabric and Notions as called for by the pattern

- Recommended Thread: - One spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread and either 1 spool Guttermann Mara 70 or 2 spools Mettler Cordonet Thread

- Jeans Needles, Size: 100/16

- Swedish Tracing paper

*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.

*Skill Levels: Intermediate - You’re no longer intimidated by the idea of reading a pattern and comfortable reading a pattern and have made a number of projects. You would like to learn different methods of zipper installation or how to alter your patterns. You’re venturing into more complicated patterns (e.g., lined garments, plackets, collars, zippered fly). Classes are faster paced and generally require homework.

Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting and prefer to have an instructor's guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, the expert help to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.
