In "Sew Simple," author Tammy Johal offers 20 beautiful beginner level designs in a wide range of sizes (US Womens 2- 28). Each one is uncomplicated, simple, and easy to style for every season of the year.
In this garment lab, beginner students will choose a pattern from Sew Simple* and learn the ins and outs of sewing garments from a pattern in the open sewing format. The first session focuses on fitting, measuring body dimensions, choosing pattern size, pattern tracing, and fabric cutting. The next sessions are open format sewing with support. During each session, you'll receive one-on-one and small group instructional support, based on you and your classmates' needs.

*Skill Levels: Beginner & Advanced Beginner - You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for
Modern Domestic Labs: You're interested in sewing in a group setting and prefer to have an instructor's guidance on specific techniques and/or skills that are proposed in the Lab's topic. You have the ability to sew at your own pace, the expert help to keep you on track and sewing along, and a variety of options (sometimes endless!) when it comes to choosing the project you want to sew.
