We are constantly adding new classes, so sign up for our newsletter to keep in the loop. If you need more personalized instruction, we also host private lessons to assure your sewing dreams come true. *Open Sew hours are first come, first serve — subject to availability and class schedule — please call ahead! Learn to Sew: Sew Basic Class
Our Sew Basic class is the best hands-on introduction to sewing. You will not only learn how to use a sewing machine, but you’ll leave feeling confident and empowered to keep sewing! Everyone is welcome, no matter your skill level.

Get your questions about sewing with knits & stretchy fabrics answered! You will learn the ins and outs of sewing knit garments from a pattern.
CLASS FULL! Fridays, July 12th & 19th, 4pm-8pm - Beginner: Summer Shorts
In this class, you will learn to draft your very own Basic Summer Shorts based on your body measurements.
Saturday July 13th, 10am-12pm - Meet the B 990 Event
Stop by Modern Domestic for a morning of BERNINA magic. We will be viewing a livestream straight from BERNINA’s HQ to meet the newest top line BERNINA machine and previewing the machine's features.

This is an incredible class if you are new to sewing and want to make an adorable zipper pouch! As with all Learn to Sew classes, this class is ideal for brand new and beginner sewists.
Thursday, August 1st, 5:30pm-8:30pm - Learn to Sew: Foldable Market Tote,
Shop in style with your very own handmade market tote.  Learn to make a simple tote bag with french seams, reinforced twill handles, boxed corners, and its very own pocket-sized storage pouch. 
Monday & Tuesday, August 5th & 6th, 5:30pm-8pm - Learn to Sew: Canvas Pouf
This class is ideal for brand new and beginner sewists interested in learning to sew home decor projects. In this two session class, you’ll walk away with a handmade place to rest your feet and throw away your fabric scraps.
Wednesdays, August 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, 5pm-7pm - Quilt Lab: My First Quilt
If you’ve ever wanted to learn to sew quilts, now is your chance.  Choose from one of our suggested patterns, another simple pattern, or bring in a quilt project you’re stuck on! 
Thursdays & Friday, August 8th, 9th, & 15th, 5pm-8pm - Beginner: Foundation Paper Piecing
Join us in this sewing lab to learn the basics of foundation paper piecing. A few different FPP designs will be available for participants to use.
Sunday, August 11th, 10am-12:30pm - Beginner: Rolled Hem Napkin
These napkins are the perfect finishing touch for any host. This class is a great introduction to using a serger for the first time or if you’d like to grow your serging application knowledge. 
Sunday, August 11th, 2pm-5pm - Learn to Sew: Canvas Tote,
Make this fun, useful tote bag out of your favorite fabrics! You will learn easy techniques to cut out your fabric pieces, sew a pocket, add shape at the bottom, and attach the straps.

The 101 Trousers are a great introduction to garment making! They have a simple and easy silhouette; perfect for both hot summer days and colder winter evenings at home.

This class is perfect for the quilter who has done a few beginner level quilts on their own, and is ready to take it to the next level.
Mondays, August 19th & 26th, 5:30pm-8:30pm - Advanced Beginner: Elastic Waist Skirt
In this class, you will learn to draft your very own Gathered Waist Skirt based on your body measurements. The skirt comes with a flattering flat front waistband, optional pockets, and the comfort of an elasticated back waistband.

Learn to sew this fun and fit fanny pack! In this class, you'll learn how to thread and sew on our Bernina machines, install a zipper, buckles, & add a lining.
Wednesdays, September 11th, 18th, 25th & October 2nd, 5pm-7:30pm - Beginner Quilting: Star Adventure
Learn a classic quilt square - the Sawtooth Star - in this fun pattern by Then Came June. The Star Adventure Quilt Pattern is a great beginner quilt that can be made in a variety of ways.
Saturdays, September 14th & 21st, 1:30pm-4:30pm - Advanced Beginner: Fit Workshop
This class is about applying proportional design theory to your unique body dimensions. You'll discover your own proportions and learn which style of clothing designs enhance or detract from your best look.
Sundays, September 15th & 22nd, 10am-2pm - Advanced Beginner: Self-Drafted Hoodie
The focus of this class is working with knits and self-drafting a garment. In class you’ll learn how to take measurements, draft a pattern, cut, and construct your own simple hoodie. 
Q Series: Longarm Basic Class, NE Alberta St
Meet the BERNINA Q 24 Longarm Quilting Machine in this exciting introductory class! This class takes you through all you need to work independently on the Q 24.
Q Series: Qmatic Basic Class, NE Alberta St
Discover the Qmatic, BERNINA’s state-of-the-art system for automated quilting in this two-day class! You’ll come away with the basics for operating the Qmatic on the Q24, including how to set up edge-to-edge quilting designs.
