In this class, students will make the versatile Easy T-Shirt pattern by Wardrobe by Me. It features a relaxed-fitting T-shirt with Dolman sleeves. The pattern has two length options and two neckline styles, with either a neckband or facing. Make the T-shirt with jersey fabric and choose either short or long sleeves. Make View C with woven fabric and craft a simple top with facings at the neckline.
The woven option is great for beginners, and the jersey option is great if you’d like to level up your skills! This class is a great first introduction to working with knit fabrics and sergers. Students can learn serger sewing techniques, threading, using a twin needle (optional), and other finishing techniques unique to working with knit fabric.
The first session focuses on fitting, measuring body dimensions, choosing pattern size, pattern tracing, and fabric cutting. The next session, you'll receive one-on-one and small group instructional support, based on you and your classmates' needs to complete one of the pattern views.
Be prepared - purchase your supplies online or in person before class begins! Class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Class supplies cannot be purchased when our shop is closed.

Supply List:
- Wardrobe by Me Easy T Shirt Pattern
- One spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread that matches your main or accent fabric (you will have visible topstitching)
- Optional: Stretch Twin Needle & extra spool of thread (purchase if interested in topstitching your hems with a twin needle)
- 3-4 Maxi-Lock Serger Thread
- Woven or Knit Fabric (This will depend on the view you choose.)
- All Other Notions (noted on your pattern)
*Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
Skill Level: Beginner- You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
Class Cancellation Policy: A cancellation more than 72 hours before a class start date receives a full refund or credit. A cancellation within 72 hours is non-refundable. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. We hold this class cancellation policy to ensure our teachers are compensated for their time, and other students waiting for spots in full classes are not missing class opportunities due to late cancellations.
